Hello all,
I have been busy. In the last week I reconfigured the website and finished 3 paintings. If you can’t tell the website is different, good. I wanted it to look the same on the outside but have better code on the inside. This involved learning some HTML and CSS nonsense, but the challenge made it fun – sort of.
Thoughts on the 3 new paintings (seen to the left):
-”Lobsters” and “Sunscreen” continue my current fixation on old beach couples. They tell a story — everyone feels they know that couple, maybe even know what they’re saying to each other in that scene. The paintings are also cute and fun to look at, and help me prove to myself that I’m actually capable of painting people.
-”Duomo” has a mystery to it that I love. The cool, drab colors and different “levels” of light create a narrative that pulls me into it. Maybe I will paint more European street scenes — the meandering, eclectic lines make them perfect subjects for my style.
